BJP national convention passes political resolution, hails PM Modi for Ram Mandir, women's reservation
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s national convention on Saturday saw the passing of a political resolution titled “Viksit Bharat-Modi ki guarantee,” as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presented the proposal during the national council meeting. The convention, held in the national capital, featured several party leaders highlighting the government’s development and cultural measures, as well as various initiatives for women, south India, farmers, and Sikhs.
The meeting also saw the approval of the political proposal by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Union Minister L. Murugan, who all supported the proposal moved by Rajnath Singh. The difference between India before 2014 and India after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister was explained through video conferencing at the meeting.
Rajnath Singh highlighted the cultural significance of the consecration of Ram Lalla in the Ram temple at Ayodhya by Prime Minister Modi on January 22, 2024, and also addressed the issue of sexual crimes against women in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal. Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the seating of Ram Lalla, while Nirmala Sitharaman detailed the achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra proposed an amendment to include Prime Minister Modi’s appreciation for the Sikh sect in the political proposal, while BJP leader Babulal Marandi proposed an amendment to highlight connectivity in rural India, upliftment of all castes, and respect for tribal society by the Narendra Modi government. After discussion, the political resolution was passed with some amendments.
The political proposal put forward by Rajnath Singh emphasized Prime Minister Modi’s 10 years in office and the vision of a developed India by 2047. It also touched on various achievements and the impact of Modi’s leadership, stating, “Modi’s Guarantee” has brought 25 crore people out of poverty and the BJP has become the heartbeat of every heart from Kutch to Kamrup and from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The resolution also emphasized the role of the Modi government in India’s economic development, security, and global leadership.
The meeting highlighted several historical events and achievements under the Modi government, including the revocation of Article 370, the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the abolition of triple talaq, the implementation of GST, and the successful management of the Covid pandemic. The resolution concluded by congratulating Prime Minister Modi and thanking him for the BJP’s victory march.
