‘Brahmin Genes’ Two-Worded Caption By Anuradha Tiwari Triggers Huge Controversy on Social Media

The social media has been rocked by a new controversy precipitated by a picture of Bengaluru-based entrepreneur Anuradha Tiwari captioned “Brahmin genes.”

A huge debate has erupted on the two-worded captions by Ms Tiwari on the relevance of caste-based reservations and inherent privileges of people in the general category.

Anuradha Tiwari is a Bengaluru-based CEO of Content Marketing company – “Just Burst Out” and she had shared a picture flexing her muscles on X boasting about her ‘Brahmin genes’

The CEO herself had been a staunch proponent of abolishing caste-based reservations on the ground that she favours ‘merit.

Hence it was ironic that Anuradha Tiwari was flexing her caste identity as ‘Brahmin’.

Anuradha Tiwari’s X Post Spark Strong Reactions

Her post evoked both supportive and critical responses by users on social media.

A very old post on Anuradha X’s profile reads,

“I am a general category student. My ancestors have passed me down to 0.00 acres of land. I live in a rented house. I couldn’t get admission despite scoring 95% but my classmate who scored 60% & comes from a well-off family gets admission. And you ask me why I have a problem with reservation?”

The post was made in August 2022.

The post has garnered 6.7 million views so far and has spawned an intense debate on caste-based reservations and the benefits which come along with it.

One X user Azad Aakash replying to Anuradha posted,

“Being proud of something you don’t have control over simply shows how retarded you are,”

Another user slammed the post and stated,  

“Whom do we owe for our ability to work out and live life on our own terms? Dr Ambedkar (both for the constitution and the Hindu code bill) and a series of other progressive voices for decades”.

However the CEO Anuradha Tiwari was unfazed and backed her claims and in a subsequent post stated,

 “As expected, a mere mention of the word ‘Brahmin’ triggered many inferior beings. Tells a lot about who real casteists are. Upper Castes get nothing from the system – no Reservation, no freebies. We earn everything on our own and have every right to be proud of our lineage. So, deal with it.”

Another user lamented the fact that hatred is being spread against the Brahmin community for supposedly historical oppression which the user contended never happened.

The user added that a concerted effort is being made to make Brahmins feel guilty for their very existence.

Well-known author, Chetan Bhagat also jumped into the debate and said that the controversy is splitting the consolidated Hindu vote bank. Anuradha shot back at the novelist,

“But when Brahmins decide to take a stand for themselves, suddenly, Hindu unity is in danger.”
