Suspicious Brent Sharrai Arrested in Payette with Explosives, FBI Investigates Amid Rising Tensions

Payette Police officials scrambled to the 600 block of North 8th Street at around 5:54 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving an alert about a suspicious person attempting to set a fire next to a railroad vehicle that was parked.
The suspect, who tried to flee the scene, was apprehended after a brief chase. He has been identified as Brent Sharrai.

The suspect has been arrested on unresolved Payette County warrants and now faces multiple charges, including carrying a destructive and explosive device, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting and obstructing police from carrying out their duties.
Police searched the camp trailer Sharrai was in and discovered belongings and controlled substances similar to those found on train cars.
Later, the Nampa Bomb Squad safely detonated the IED after it was isolated with the help of a specialized robot.
The FBI is investigating the incident, although no motive has been established in the case.
