Florida Woman Briana Boston Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Insurer Using Phrase Linked to UnitedHealthcare CEO’s Murder

Close in the heels of the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, a Florida woman named Briana Boston was taken into custody for threatening her healthcare insurance provider BlueCross BlueShield.

The woman used a phrase which was synonymous with the recent killing of the UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson i.e. deny, defend, depose which was engraved on the shell casing recovered from the Thompson killing site to buttress the fact that the killing was to avenge denial of insurance amount by the insurance provider.

Briana Boston Arrested for Alleged Threats to Insurer Tied to Phrase Linked to UnitedHealthcare CEO’s Death

The woman has been charged with threatening to conduct a mass killing. The woman’s lawyer has however challenged the charges and stated that his client only made the threats on the phone and it comes under the purview of freedom of speech.

Briana Boston had threatened her insurance provider on the phone probably inspired by Luigi Mangione, the prime suspect in the Brian Thompson and told them to delay, deny, and depose, you people are next.

However, the woman had only threatened on the phone and had not caused any harm physically but she was charged with “threats to conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism”.

Briana Boston was denied her medical insurance claims and in a fit of anger threatened her insurance provider who immediately informed the police.

The police swung into action and arrested Briana on her doorstep. Boston had apologized for her outburst and her lawyer said that she was facing an overcharge.

The lawyer said,

“It’s political hyperbole. If you post something stupid on Twitter, and it’s read by somebody who may work for some company, and they’re taking it as a threat, then are we going to go and arrest every person on Twitter, because they say stupid things?”

Briana Boston is the first person to be arrested for making a similar threat to Luigi Mangione and broke down when she was arrested and told her investigators,

“Healthcare companies played games and deserved karma from the world because they are evil”.

If convicted she could face up to 14 years in prison and according to reports a bond of $100,000 was set for her.

For the unversed the shooter of Brian Thompson had left the words deny, defend, depose on the shell casing making it clear that the killing was in response to the policies of health care insurance providers who use the three words deny, defend, depose to strike down claims.
