BRS leaders head to Medigadda to combat Congress government’s ‘misinformation’ about Kaleshwaram project

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders embarked on a ‘Chalo Medigadda’ campaign to counter Congress government’s accusations against the Kaleshwaram project. Led by K. T. Rama Rao, the leaders left for Medigadda in response to sinking piers at the barrage and allegations of corruption in the project by opposition parties.

The Medigadda barrage faced issues last year, leading to a visit by a team from the National Dam Safety Authority. The sinking piers controversy turned political, with Congress and BJP accusing the BRS government of corruption. The Congress government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy initiated a judicial probe and Vigilance Department inquiry into the Medigadda project.

The BRS leaders’ visit aimed at explaining the benefits of the Kaleshwaram project and demanding immediate repairs to prevent farmers from suffering. K. T. Rama Rao criticized the Congress government for prioritizing politics over farmer welfare and alleged a conspiracy to allow the barrage to fail in the upcoming rainy season. The BRS leaders refuted Congress’s allegations and urged the government to rectify the defects without politicizing the issue.

Former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao will present a detailed analysis of the Kaleshwaram project’s features and benefits during the visit. The BRS leaders emphasized the importance of reminding the government of its responsibility towards ensuring the project’s success and serving the interests of farmers. The ‘Chalo Medigadda’ campaign highlights the ongoing controversy surrounding the Kaleshwaram project and the political allegations surrounding it.
