Bulgarian farm reports bird flu outbreak

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic bird flu at an industrial farm near the village of Tsalapitsa, 130 km southeast of Sofia. The virus was detected on a farm with 86,000 laying hens, and measures are being taken to prevent its spread.

The BFSA stated that in order to contain the disease, the infected birds and those in contact with them would be culled. This is the eighth bird flu outbreak at an industrial farm in Bulgaria this year, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

The agency’s website provides information on the ongoing efforts to control and manage the situation. The outbreak serves as a reminder of the risks associated with highly pathogenic strains of bird flu and the importance of early detection and containment measures.
