Case filed against Odisha law minister, and 12 others for the murder of BJP leader and his associate

Police have registered a case against 13 people, including state law minister Pratap Jena, in connection with the murder of a BJP leader in Cuttack district of Odisha. On Saturday, BJP leader Kulamani Baral and his colleague Divya Singh Baral were killed. After the murder of Kulamani Baral, the BJP accused the ruling Biju Janata Dal of doing revenge politics and said that the BJD has also become like the Trinamool Congress.

On Saturday, 75-year-old Kulamani Baral, a divisional in-charge in Odisha’s Cuttack district, was returning home on a motorcycle with his 80-year-old colleague Divya Singh Baral. The criminals ambushed and killed both. This caused serious injuries to both the face and chest. Due to which Kulamani Baral died on the spot, Divya Singh died in the hospital in Cuttack during treatment.

Annoyed by the killing of its leader, the BJP accused the BJD that the work which Mamata Banerjee is doing in Bengal is doing the same work done by Naveen Patnaik’s government in Odisha. BJP made the case law minister accused in this case and said that he should be sacked from the government immediately. The Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also condemned the killing.

Ramakant, son of Kulamani Baral, filed an FIR against 13 people, saying that his father was raising his voice against the rigging of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Cuttack district. Because of which his life was in danger. He also complained to the police but no action was taken. At the same time, Ramankant also said that the people against whom he has filed the FIR were the conspirators of the murder of BJP leader Vikas Jena in December 2018. But despite this, no action was taken by the police. If action was taken in time, my father would have survived.

However, Law Minister Pratap Jena has termed all the allegations against him baseless and said that he will get it investigated and take the strongest action against the culprits. Cuttack Rural SP has said that six teams have been formed to investigate the matter.
