Celebrity Influencer Ria Ricis Private Photos and Videos Leak On Twitter, Instagram; Suspect Who Demanded Money Arrested

The Indonesian Police have launched a full investigation into the alleged threats and extortion directed at celebrity influencer Ria Ricis.

The Head of Public Relations conveyed the news to the Indonesian Police, Ade Ary, who stated that his team was investigating the case and had questioned several witnesses and examined the evidence.

The Police Head said the case is being investigated by the Cyber Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya and a full investigation is underway considering the seriousness of the alleged criminal act.

Ria Ricis Targeted in Rp 300 Juta Extortion, Suspect Arrested

Ade Ary also mentioned that the social media influencer was asked for a ransom of Rp 300 Juta or else her data in the form of photos and videos would be made public.

Ade Ary added that the police are examining the call details of the influencer and are trying to locate the two cell phones from which the ransom demand was made.

Ria Ricis has stated that the videos and personal photos are plain and ordinary, with nothing objectionable.

“Selfie photos without hijab, videos of me going to the gym in skimpy clothes are what he wants to share,” said Ria Ricis in her Instagram Story.

Furthermore, Polda Metro Jaya has announced that they have taken one suspect into custody in connection with the alleged extortion and threats made to Ria Ricis.

The arrest occurred on Monday, June 10, 2024, and the suspect is being interrogated. The Police have also clarified that Ria Ricis has not paid any ransom.

The suspect, who has only been identified as AP, allegedly committed the act for economic reasons, and the Police have confiscated several pieces of evidence, namely a cell phone used by AP to make threats, two SIM cards, three social media accounts, and three emails belonging to AP.

The Police further added that the arrested suspect uploaded photos an videos belonging to Ria Ricis to his three social media accounts, namely Instagram, Twitter or X, and TikTok.

After uploading the pictures, the suspect took a screenshot and sent it to Ria Ricis’s manager, threatening that it would be distributed unless a ransom of Rp 300 juta was paid.

Ria Ricis, in a statement, said that she had to undergo a lot of trauma along with her employees.

Ria had reported the incident to the Police on June 7.

Ricis said,

“Here I feel distressed and very threatened, of course. Not only me, but there are also several parties such as the management team and even the family, even those closest to them have also been affected.”
