Centre approves Rs 576 crore for four-laning highway project in Karnataka

New Delhi, March 15 (IANS) – Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced the allocation of Rs 576.22 crore for the 4-laning of the Yedegowdanahalli to Arjunahalli segment of NH-373 in Karnataka’s Hassan district. This 22.3 km corridor serves as a crucial link to popular tourist destinations like Chikamagaluru, Belur, Halebeedu, and Shravanabelagola.

Gadkari highlighted that the project’s implementation will lead to improved connectivity, ultimately boosting tourism and driving economic growth in the region. This allocation follows the recent approval of Rs 1385.60 crore for various road projects in Karnataka under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) scheme.

The approved proposal encompasses the enhancement and reinforcement of 295 road development projects covering a total length of 2055.62 km. The development of the Yedegowdanahalli to Arjunahalli segment of NH-373 is expected to have a significant impact on the region’s infrastructure and road connectivity.
