Chandrasekaran hints at Tata Group’s upcoming significant investment in semiconductor industry

Tata Group to Invest in Semiconductor and Mobile Battery Manufacturing

Chennai, Feb 28 (IANS) – Tata Group is set to make a major investment in semiconductor and mobile battery manufacturing businesses, announced Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran. The announcement was made during the MMA-Amalgamations Business Leadership Award 2023 event in Chennai.

Chandrasekaran shared that the group will soon reveal its plans to manufacture semiconductors and mobile battery products, expressing the group’s commitment to the mobile phone industry. He emphasized that this investment marks just the beginning of the group’s future business endeavors.

The Tata Group has previously exited the mobile telephone business and other ventures with marginal contributions, focusing on simplifying and scaling up existing businesses to enhance cash flows. Chandrasekaran stressed the importance of prioritizing values over valuations in business decisions, highlighting that input can be controlled, but outcomes cannot.

In his address, Chandrasekaran drew parallels between the strategies of a company and an athlete, emphasizing the need for businesses to adapt and evolve to thrive in a competitive environment. He also praised the Indian government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a conducive environment for global companies to invest and manufacture in India.

As India redefines its position in the global landscape, Chandrasekaran emphasized the importance of each company running its own race and delivering value to customers. The group’s upcoming investments in semiconductor and mobile battery manufacturing underscore its commitment to innovation and growth in key technological sectors.
