Chennai Super Kings win toss and choose to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the toss and elected to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 22 of IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday evening. CSK, currently fourth in the points table, aim to bounce back after two consecutive losses on the road. KKR, second-placed and unbeaten in the competition, look to continue their winning streak.

CSK holds a 7-3 head-to-head record against KKR at Chepauk. However, KKR emerged victorious in their last encounter in Chennai. The pitch for the game is the same where CSK defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener.

CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad confirmed changes in the playing XI with Matheesha Pathirana still unavailable and Mustafizur Rahman coming in. Shardul Thakur replaces Deepak Chahar due to injury, and Sameer Rizvi returns in place of Mukesh Choudhary. Gaikwad expressed confidence in his team’s performance and spoke about the opponent’s good form.

On the other hand, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer announced an unchanged playing eleven and mentioned that they would have opted to bowl first as well. Iyer praised his team’s adaptability and emphasized on focusing on the present rather than past encounters. Both teams seem determined to put up a competitive show in the upcoming match.

The playing XIs for both teams include some notable names, with Gaikwad leading CSK and Iyer leading KKR. Impact substitutes have also been named for potential changes during the game. Fans can expect an exciting clash between the two teams at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
