Chhath Puja celebrations start in Noida and Greater Noida after a 2-year gap

Pravasi Mahasangh President, Alok Vatsa, stated that around 2 lakh people are expected to take part in the ritual around Noida. After 2 year break due to the pandemic, Chhath Puja preparation has officially started. Chhath Puja committees are in full swing to celebrate the festival with full joy.

The committee has been conducting Chhath Puja for the past 15 years in Sector-25 Noida. Plus, a few cultural events are also on the list at Ramlila Ground in Sector 21 Noida Stadium on October 30 and 31. “People from not only Noida but also from Delhi and Ghaziabad are expected to attend the celebrations here. The events will begin at 4 pm on the designated dates and will witness performances by renowned Kathak dancer Anu Sinha and popular artists from the Bhojpuri film and music industry. Several dignitaries, including MPs and MLAs, have also been invited,” he said.

Abhishek Kumar from the NEFOWA Foundation and Purvanchal Pravasi Ektamanch also conducts the Chhath Puja celebration in Greater Noida West, he will be organising the event on October 29th and 30th near an artificial pond in Ek Murti intersection. “Renowned Bhojpuri singer Golu Raja will be performing at the event and we are expecting thousands of people to attend the celebrations,” he informed.

While the ritual for the first two days will be performed at home but for the last two days, a pond or lake is required in order to complete the puja. In Noida may societies allow their residents to conduct such rituals on their terraces. 

“We will set up a kids’ swimming pool on the terrace of the society for the devotees to offer ‘arghya’ to the sun god. Over 200 people are expected to take part, including those from nearby societies,” Rajneesh Nandan, resident, Parsvnath Prestige society, Sector 93A, said.
