Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asks Noida authority to enforce a ban on plastic effectively

On Monday, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath asked the Noida authority to enforce the plastic bags ban in the city. He reached Sector 94 the integrated command control centre that oversees and enforces traffic rules and safety measures in the city. Yogi Adityanath also inspected the health department and waste management control room along with inspecting the security and traffic management system on the first floor and the solid waste management system facility on the second floor of the centre.

“The CM has directed us to implement the Integrated Security and Transport Management System (ISTMS) effectively for the safety of the general public. He also asked the authority and police to recover fines imposed on vehicles for violation of traffic norms in the city,” said Ritu Maheshwari, chief executive officer, of Noida authority.

Ritu presented a presentation to CM on ISTMS and solid waste management system control mechanisms, telling how the technology will help in enhancing traffic management, solid waste management, enhancing safety. 

CM Yogi Adityanath reached the facility in Sector-94 in the afternoon and inspected the officials for 10 minutes. He examined the waste treatment of an integrated Industrial Township that is being developed in Greater Noida. 

According to the authority and traffic police, the new ISTMS will help in issuing e-challans to all the vehicles that have violated the traffic rules. It will be sent to the mobile number given in the registration of the vehicles. As per reports, almost 40,000 e-challans have been issued in the month of July for the violation of traffic. Before the ISTMS, facilities were issuing manual challans in the city. 

As a part of this project, the Noida authority has put 1076 high-definition cameras at 82 important locations across Noida. The traffic spots include Amrapali Chowk, Mahamaya flyover, Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro station, Rajnigandha Chowk, Atta Chowk Gol Chakkar, Government Degree College, City Centre, Sector 91 and 18, Sector 22/54.
