Chinese Military Provides Assistance to Pakistan in Combating Terrorism

Islamabad, March 29 (IANS) – After the tragic suicide blast in Besham, Pakistan, that claimed the lives of five Chinese nationals, Beijing has extended its support to Islamabad in combating terrorism. The Chinese government has urged Pakistan to ramp up security measures to protect Chinese nationals and projects.

Following the attack, Colonel Wu Qian of the China Ministry of National Defense stated, “The Chinese military is willing to collaborate with Pakistan to enhance security capabilities and combat security risks, including terrorist activities, to safeguard regional peace and stability.”

In response, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson emphasized the need for increased security measures in Pakistan to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions. A Chinese investigation team is currently in Islamabad to assist Pakistani authorities in investigating the terrorist incident.

Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi met with the Chinese investigating team at the Chinese Consulate in Islamabad to provide updates on the investigation. Naqvi assured complete cooperation from Pakistan to hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure justice for the victims of the attack.

Political analyst Adnan Shauqat highlighted the potential for enhanced military cooperation between Pakistan and China following the Besham attack. The strong strategic partnership between the two countries has a history of close military exchanges, joint exercises, and technological cooperation.

The recent display of solidarity between Pakistan and China was evident during the Pakistan Day Parade on March 23, where a 36-member PLA Guard of Honour escorted the Chinese national flag. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian reiterated China’s firm stance against terrorism and pledged unwavering support to Pakistan in combating terrorist threats for the safety of Chinese personnel and projects in Pakistan.
