CM Biren Singh emphasizes the importance of advancing development initiatives in Manipur amid ethnic conflict

Imphal, March 10 (IANS) Amidst ongoing ethnic strife in Manipur, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh emphasized the need for continued development initiatives. Speaking at the launch of a football ground construction project, he praised the resilience of the youth and women in the state. Singh urged citizens to maintain communal harmony despite challenges.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving progress across all sectors. He acknowledged the unity among Manipur’s indigenous population in resisting attempts to disrupt peace and urged citizens to uphold the state’s long-standing tradition of co-existence.

The construction of a natural grass football ground in Lamlai, part of several development projects for Manipur, was initiated following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unveiling of projects worth Rs 55,600 crore for the northeast states. Of this, projects worth Rs 3,500 crore were allocated to Manipur.

Singh expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for addressing the crisis in the state and appreciated the support and guidance from Central leaders. He highlighted measures such as the Inner Line Permit System and increased security along the India-Myanmar border as steps taken to ensure the safety of Manipur and its people.
