Congress Dissatisfied with Dhar Candidate, Set to Introduce Alternate Choice

The Congress leadership is reportedly disappointed with Radheshyam Muvel, its candidate for Dhar Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh, and is considering fielding a new face. Muvel’s lack of on-ground activity has prompted calls for his replacement with Mahendra Kannauj from JAYS.

Muvel, who was given the ticket in the first list, has not established any election offices, leading to concerns among local party workers. The election in Dhar is set for the fourth phase on May 13, along with six other constituencies in the Malwa-Nimar region.

Despite losing the past two general elections in Dhar, the Congress secured five out of eight Assembly seats under the Lok Sabha constituency in the most recent state polls. BJP, on the other hand, won three Assembly seats in the tribal-dominated region.

BJP has a strong presence in Dhar, having won eight Lok Sabha elections in the past, including the last two. This time, they have fielded ex-MP Savitri Singh for the upcoming election. Congress is now looking to make a strategic move by replacing Muvel with Kannauj to boost its chances in the constituency.
