Congress fights against BJP candidate and infighting in Gujarat’s Panchmahal

In the political landscape of Panchmahal, a district in eastern Gujarat, the BJP has introduced a new candidate, Rajpalsinh Mahendrasinh Jadav from Kalol in Panchmahal District. The 42-year-old candidate belongs to the Baraiya Kshatriya community, classified under the Other Backward Class (OBC) and works as a farmer.

Rajpalsinh has a political career spanning 24 years and has served two terms as a member of the District Panchayat. He was also the President of the Panchmahal District Panchayat and is currently a part of the State Executive of Gujarat BJP. The BJP has declared him as one of the new candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In the past, the BJP has shown dominance in Panchmahal, as seen in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections when Chauhan Prabhatsinh Pratapsinh won with 508,274 votes. This time, the Congress has nominated Gulabsinh Chauhan, the Lunawada MLA, for the Panchmahal seat, in an attempt to challenge the BJP’s stronghold in the region.

Internal unrest regarding the Congress ticket distribution for the Panchmahal Lok Sabha seat was recently addressed by senior party leaders. A meeting was facilitated between Gulabsinh Chauhan and opposing party members, including influential leader Dushyantsinh Chauhan, to resolve conflicts and disagreements over the nomination process. The political battle in Panchmahal reflects the larger ideological and strategic tussles between the BJP and Congress in Gujarat.
