Congress repeats Sudhakaran from Kannur LS Seat in Kerala

The Congress has announced K. Sudhakaran as its candidate for the Lok Sabha election from the Kannur seat in Kerala. Sudhakaran, the sitting Lok Sabha member and Congress’ Kerala chief, initially hesitated due to health issues but was urged to run after the CPI(M) fielded M.V. Jayarajan.

In 2019, the Congress-led UDF secured 19 out of 20 seats in Kerala, with the Congress contesting on 16 seats, the IUML on two, and one each for the Kerala Congress and RSP. Despite winning most seats, the UDF allies did lose Alappuzha, prompting speculation on the candidate for the upcoming election.

With all sitting Congress MPs now confirmed to contest, the focus shifts to who will run in Alappuzha. This decision will be closely watched as preparations gear up for the Lok Sabha election in Kerala.
