CRPF, Haryana Police took away five-six legislators: Himachal CM

Shimla, Feb 27 (IANS) Amid claims by the opposition BJP that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has lost majority in the House, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu stated that several legislators were taken away by CRPF and Haryana Police convoy.

Sukhu assured the media that the missing legislators were in contact with their families and urged them not to worry. He criticized the opposition’s behavior during counting and urged them to show patience.

In response, BJP leader Jai Ram Thakur hinted at demanding a floor test, stating, “The government has lost majority.” Reports suggest that nine Congress MLAs may have cross-voted in favor of BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidate.

Harsh Mahajan, BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidate, criticized the Congress, saying, “Their government has failed, so their MLAs and people are upset with them.” Congress holds a majority of 40 in the 68-member House, while BJP has 25 legislators with support from three Independents.
