Cyber thugs dupe two individuals in Lucknow

A devotee in Lucknow, Ram Chandra Pandey fell victim to a fraud scheme while trying to book a room for a pilgrimage to Jagannath temple in Odisha. Pandey was duped of Rs 2.24 lakh by a person posing as a facilitator for the pilgrimage.

According to police reports, Pandey came across a link and a mobile number of a man named Pankaj who claimed to help with booking a room and facilitating darshan at the temple. After paying the deposit fee online, Pandey realized that he had been scammed as there was no such facility available.

Another case of fraud was reported in Gudamba area by Mansi Srivastava. She received a call from someone posing as her father’s friend who claimed to owe her father money and requested her account number to return it. This led to unauthorized transactions of Rs 55,000 from her account.

Both cases have been reported to the cyber cell for investigation to track down the perpetrators. Authorities warn the public to be cautious and verify the authenticity of such requests before sharing personal information or making financial transactions to avoid falling victim to similar scams.
