Damascus targeted by Israeli strikes

An Israeli aerial attack struck areas south of Damascus on Wednesday night, as reported by the Syrian Defence Ministry. The attack originated from the occupied Golan Heights, targeting multiple locations on the outskirts of the Syrian capital. Syrian air defense units successfully intercepted the missiles, with only material losses reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the Israeli missiles hit sites belonging to Iranian militias and Lebanese Hezbollah in Sayyida Zaynab and Babila, resulting in casualties and missing individuals. This marks the 17th Israeli strike recorded by the observatory this year. The Ministry of Defence in Syria confirmed the incident, emphasizing the successful interception of the missiles.

The Israeli airstrikes on Syria have been a frequent occurrence, often targeting locations associated with Iranian-backed forces. The ongoing conflict in the region has heightened tensions between Israel and Syria, with both sides engaging in military actions. The recent attack underscores the vulnerability of the region to external threats and the need for continued vigilance.
