Danny DeVito playfully confronts Michael Keaton at the 96th Academy Awards

LOS ANGELES: Actors Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger reunited at the 96th Academy Awards, presenting awards and cracking jokes about their roles in ‘Batman’ movies. They presented the awards for Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing, adding humor to the evening.

The duo shared the stage to present the award for the Best Visual Effects to ‘Godzilla Minus One’ and Best Film Editing to ‘Oppenheimer’. Their banter about their shared history with the Caped Crusader had the audience entertained.

Arnold and I are presenting tonight together for a very obvious reason,” DeVito said. “We’ve both tried to kill Batman,” Schwarzenegger revealed, referring to their roles as villains in the Batman movies.

DeVito played the Penguin in ‘Batman Returns’, while Schwarzenegger portrayed Mr. Freeze in ‘Batman and Robin’. The actors reminisced about their characters’ defeats by Batman, adding a touch of nostalgia to the Oscars night.

At the Oscars, Schwarzenegger mentioned how Batman exploited Mr. Freeze’s love for his deceased wife to defeat him. DeVito joked about his character’s demise, saying “He threw me out a window!” The camera even cut to Michael Keaton in the audience, who previously played Batman.

Keaton, who was a presenter at the Oscars, shared the stage with his ‘Beetlejuice’ co-star Catherine O’Hara. Schwarzenegger playfully quipped at Keaton for daring to show his face after all these years. While it has been a while since their Batman roles, Keaton reprised the character in ‘The Flash’ last year.
