Delhi court granted bail to activist Disha Ravi in Toolkit case

The bail plea of Climate Activist Disha Ravi, arrested in the Toolkit case, was heard on 20 February in Patiala House Court. During this time the Delhi Police said that ‘this is not just a toolkit, the real plan was to discredit India and spread unrest’. After which the court has reserved its decision for 23 February.

Assistant Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing on behalf of the government, said that if the direction is granted bail then it can tamper with the evidence. Raju said, “Disha had created a WhatsApp group from her phone number. She used it to tweet with Greta Thunberg. On 3 February, the conspiracy came to light because of Greta’s tweet.”

“Disha Ravi asked Greta Thunberg to delete the toolkit document. If he was so harmless, why did he ask Greta to remove it? This shows that there was a sinister plan behind the toolkit. “

What did Delhi Police say in court?

Delhi Police told the Patiala House Court that Disha Ravi is closely associated with the Khalistan-supported organization Poetic Justice Foundation (PJF).

The Prosecution said, “Disha is consistently refusing to cooperate with the investigation. Their devices have been sent to FSL experts. Preliminary Findings indicate that the content has been deleted. The investigation is currently at the preliminary stage.”

Regarding Shantanu Muluk, the second accused in the toolkit case, the police said that ‘his transit anticipatory bail cannot be mentioned in Ravi’s case as the Bombay High Court did not see the merit of the case.’

“PJF wanted to take advantage of the farmer demonstration. He wanted an Indian face. He was in contact with many people including Disha. A mechanism was created. The whole purpose of making the toolkit was a conspiracy among the accused. “

The police said that they want the custody of Disha Ravi after 22 February as he has to confront the other accused.

What did Disha’s lawyer said?

On behalf of Disha Ravi, the defense lawyer said that ‘Disha Ravi is not a rebel, the reason is environment, agriculture and the two are interlinked.’

Disha’s lawyer said that the 22-year-old girl living in Bangalore had nothing to do with the ‘Khalistani movement’. The lawyer said, “There are allegations of interaction between the petitioner and the PJF while there is no evidence of link with the Sikhs for Justice. There have been allegations of interaction with the PJF but no evidence has been provided to prove the relationship.”

“If it is treason to tell the farmer about the demonstration all over the world, then I am better in jail.” If a person meets another person, then there is no pat on him for being a separatist. “

The lawyer said, “If we talk to the traitor, will we become a traitor? It is not a crime to give your argument on any platform.” The lawyer argued that no one arrested in the Red Fort violence has spoken of being inspired by the toolkit.

Satisfy my conscience: Judge

Police had alleged that on 11 January, a zoom call took place between PJF founder MO Dhaliwal and Disha Ravi. Police said in court that many such meetings were held on Republic Day before the disturbance. Justice Dharmendra Rana asked that ‘how can anyone accuse anyone of wrong intentions simply because he has met a person of wrong credibility’.

The police said that ‘everyone knows MO Dhaliwal’. So Justice Rana said, “No, I do not know who is MO Dhaliwal.”

The judge asked for evidence linking Disha Ravi to the 26 January violence. To this, the police said, “Not everyone has a role in the conspiracy. Some people may have been involved in violence inspired by the toolkit.” When the police said that the plot can be seen on the basis of ecological evidence right now. So Justice Dharmendra Rana said, “May I assume that there is no direct link yet”.

When the police lawyer did not respond, Justice Rana said, “I will not move forward until I satisfy the conscience.”

The court also asked three questions: What is the story of procedure? What are the charges against Disha Ravi? What is the evidence against them?
