Deepika Padukone to join galaxy of global stars at tonight's Battle of the BAFTAs
The 75th British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTAs) are set to begin in a few hours, with Prince William as the guest of honour and Deepika Padukone as one of the presenters. The event will be broadcast live to Indian audiences on Lionsgate Play from 12:30 a.m. onwards. The race this year is between Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ and Yorgos Lanthimos’s ‘Poor Things’, with several other films hoping for a successful evening. The list of presenters includes the likes of David Beckham, Dua Lipa, and Bollywood star Deepika Padikone.
‘Oppenheimer’ has received 13 nominations, including best film, best actor, and best supporting actress, while ‘Poor Things’ received 11 nods, making it a strong contender. Other films in the mix include ‘Anatomy of a Fall’, ‘The Holdovers’, ‘Maestro’, ‘All of Us Strangers’, and ‘Saltburn’. Margot Robbie will also be in the spotlight, despite missing the cut for an Oscar nomination.
The BAFTAs will feature distinguished guests such as Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, and Carey Mulligan. However, the event will be missing Catherine, Princess of Wales, who is still recovering after abdominal surgery. Former ‘Doctor Who’ star David Tennant will host the show, promising an evening of celebration and joy without any uncomfortable moments or barbs directed at the A-list audience.
The 75th BAFTAs are set to be an exciting and star-studded event, with a strong lineup of films vying for the top honours. As the countdown to the ceremony begins, anticipation is high among fans and the film industry alike. Stay tuned for all the highlights and winners from this prestigious event.
