This act of breaking the temple in the dark of night suddenly created tension in the area. The Delhi Police had done a tremendous barricading in the entire area.

All routes to and from Chandni Chowk were sealed. Despite this, many Hindu organizations who reached the spot held the Delhi government responsible for breaking the temple in this way and raised fierce slogans against the government. A large number of Delhi Police personnel and several RAF companies were deployed on the spot.
