Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot summoned by ED for questioning in excise policy case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot for questioning in connection with a money laundering case linked to the excise policy scam. Gahlot, an AAP MLA, has been asked to appear before the ED for recording his statement under the PMLA.
Kailash Gahlot, the 49-year-old Transport Minister in the Delhi government, has already reached the ED office for questioning. The case relates to alleged corruption and money laundering in the formulation and execution of the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, which was subsequently scrapped.
Sources from the ED revealed that Gahlot was part of the group that drafted the liquor policy leaked to a group in a Southern state. The investigation also involves Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested earlier this month in connection with the case and is currently in ED custody.
This development comes days after the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the same case. Apart from Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia and AAP MP Sanjay Singh have also been arrested in connection with the alleged excise policy scam. The ED is continuing its investigation into the matter.
