Delhi Police Attacked While Attempting to Arrest Man Accused of Pulling Woman’s Dupatta

New Delhi, March 21 (IANS) – An incident in north Delhi escalated when a police team tried to apprehend a man accused of harassing a woman, throwing a water balloon at her and pulling off her dupatta. The suspect, Kapil, was captured on video verbally abusing the woman and throwing water balloons at neighbors.

The police team faced resistance from locals, including the suspect’s family members, when they tried to take Kapil to the police station. A video footage showed a group of people physically engaging with the police officials during the altercation.

The incident unfolded when a PCR call was received by Subzi Mandi police station about the man forcibly removing a woman’s dupatta and following her home. The police team managed to apprehend Kapil, but his family members intervened, freeing him from custody.

The victim filed a complaint stating that Kapil verbally abused her, removed her dupatta, and physically assaulted her. Cases have been registered against Kapil under Sections 354, 354B, 509, and 323 of the Indian Penal Code, along with his family members under Sections 186, 353, and 34 of the IPC.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, North, M.K. Meena mentioned that medical examinations were conducted on the police personnel involved, and a General Diary entry was logged. The police acted with minimal force during the encounter and managed to bring the situation under control.
