Did Mike Pence Endorse Kamala Harris For President?
The social media is full of reports that former Vice President of the Donald Trump government, Mike Pence, has endorsed Kamala Harris’s candidature for the US Presidential poll.
However, the truth is that Mike Pence has neither endorsed Kamala Harris nor Donald Trump.
Mike Pence reveals why he didn’t endorse Donald Trump
In a recent interview with the Indiana 250 Off the Record podcast, Mike Pence revealed that there are four major reasons why he is not endorsing Donald Trump’s candidature for the Presidential elections.
Pence served as Trump’s vice president from January 2017 to January 2021 and was crucial for Trump winning support from the religious right.
However, relations soured when Pence defied Trump and certified the 2020 presidential election results in Congress.
Trump has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that the election had been rigged against him, a view that was repeatedly rejected in the courts.
On January 6, 2021, hundreds of Trump supporters stormed Congress to prevent the election’s certification, with some chanting, “Hang Mike Pence.”
Talking to the Indiana 250 Off the Record podcast, Mike Pence said that he could not support Trump because the former President has not changed his views of his constitutional duties on January 6.
Pence also alleged that Trump is leading the party away from the policies which have been the mainstay for many years.
Pence was particularly critical of the path the foreign policy the Republican Party is taking under Donald Trump.
Pence said,
“I see the president and some of his most ardent supporters, including his running mate now, advocate a more isolationist view, which is not my view of the proper role of the United States or the Republican Party.”
At the start of this month, Trump had announced Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate.
Vance has been very vocal in his opposition to the huge sums of money which the US Government has been giving as aid to Ukraine in its war against Russia.
Pence also stated that this is in sharp contrast to Trump’s term as President earlier when the US had a strong defense and a robust foreign policy.
Mike Pence hasn’t endorse Kamala Harris
However, it is also a fact that Mike Pence has not endorsed Kamala Harris as a presidential candidate. He is tight-lipped about the stories on social media.
