Did the X2 Twins Die? Social Media Rumors Spark Concern About the Popular Duo
The X2 Twins are well-known for their unique content on Twitch and YouTube, but they are better known for their Fortnite gameplay.
The duo often participates in tournaments, and prominent wins include the Summer Smash Tournament on January 27, 2019, in which one of the twins, Jesse Eckley, bagged the first prize.
Are the X2 Twins Dead?
The news that the X2 Twins have passed away spread like wildfire across the internet, with worried fans desperately searching for more news and also trying to check the veracity of the viral news.
The unsubstantiated rumors have sent the internet into a frenzy, and there are even discussions that X2 Twins, Jesse and Jordan Eckley, may have died from health complications related to excessive gaming.
One of the reasons for the fans’ concern about the duo is their continued absence from social media platforms. The X2 Twins have a subscriber base of over six million on YouTube and 2.5 million on the TikTok platform.
The genesis of this rumor can be traced to a post by an unknown user on TikTok who claimed that the duo had died due to a heart attack caused by relentless gaming and sweating during Fortnite sessions. However, the post did not cite any credible sources to support these claims.
The post reads:
“The twin gamers, known as the X2 Twins, both recently passed away. Twenty-three-year-old Jesse Eckley and Jordan Eckley both died due to heart failure from sweating too hard in Fortnite. The twin gamers will be missed.”
However, upon closely observing the post, it is full of errors, with the most glaring discrepancy being the mention of the wrong age of the twins.
For the unversed, the word ‘sweating’ in gaming parlance means efforts to excel beyond normal human capabilities, even if the effort is unsuccessful. The netizens were simply making fun of the rigorous gaming style of the twins. Most of all, the twins have not reacted to the viral and fake death news.
As for the fact that the duo has not been active and posting content, it could be due to the excessive strain from intense gaming sessions, and they must be taking a welcome break to recoup their energies.
The X2 Twins, Jesse and Jordan Eckley, 24, are Australian gaming enthusiasts and represent the Renegades eSports team. They have been a part of Fortnite League and CoreOCE and boast over 3,000 hours of gameplay.
