The infamous DIG Vijayakumar was a Police officer who worked as a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He came into the limelight when he shot himself by firing his own gun.

As per reports, he went for a morning walk around his residential area at 6:45 am. He asked his PSOs for his gun and later shot himself after the routine walk at RaceCourse ground. According to people close to him, he was depressed and was having self-esteem issues for last few months.

As per reports, police investigated the incident and reported it as a suicide. However, the real intention behind this act is still unknown. Post-mortem was done in Coimbatore GH. Back on 6th January 2023, he was appointed as DIG of police in the city of Coimbatore. He was a part of 2009’s IPS Batch. Later, he went on to work as a police superintendent in Kancheepuram and deputy commissioner of police in Chennai. During his final years, he was serving as DIG in Coimbatore.
