Digvijaya Singh begins campaigning in Rajgarh Lok Sabha constituency
Bhopal, April 1 (IANS): Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh has commenced his campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in Rajgarh constituency with a week-long ‘padyatra’. Accompanied by supporters, Singh is covering 25 kms daily in his home district.
Digvijaya Singh, a two-time former Chief Minister, is contesting against BJP’s Rodmal Nagar. Having won the Rajgarh Lok Sabha seat twice in the past, Singh lost in 1989. He also contested in Bhopal in 2019 and lost to BJP’s Pragya Singh Thakur.
The BJP has held the Rajgarh constituency for two terms, with Rodmal Nagar winning by a large margin in 2019. Singh’s brother, Laxman Singh, has also been an MP for BJP five times.
Singh has previously undertaken ‘padyatra’ campaigns and other long journeys, including a ‘Narmada Parikrama’. BJP has criticized Singh’s campaign, stating that his defeat is certain as people in Madhya Pradesh support Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
