Dinesh Chandimal exits second Test against Bangladesh due to ‘family emergency’

Sri Lankan wicket-keeper batter, Dinesh Chandimal, had to leave Chattogram and head back to Colombo due to a family medical emergency during the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh. His absence led to a substitute fielder being brought in for the rest of the match as Sri Lanka maintained control despite losing wickets.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) issued a statement expressing full support for Chandimal during this difficult time and asking the public to respect his and his family’s privacy. Chandimal was caught behind for nine runs in the second innings after helping his team amass 531 runs in the opening innings.

Chandimal’s departure comes as Sri Lanka leads the two-match series 1-0 after a win in Sylhet. Despite the setback, the team still managed to maintain a strong position in the Test match against Bangladesh. The SLC emphasized their support for Chandimal and his family during this challenging time.
