Director Bala allegedly harassed and assaulted Mamitha Baiju during the shoot of ‘Vanangaan’, says the actress

Actress Mamitha Baiju, known for her work in Malayalam cinema, has accused director Bala of mental harassment and physical assault during the filming of ‘Vanangaan’, which also stars Tamil superstar Suriya. Baiju revealed details of the alleged mistreatment on a YouTube channel interview.

Narrating a distressing incident from the sets, Baiju mentioned how she was ill-prepared for a scene that required her to perform a difficult Villadichampaatu. She expressed her struggle with the task and the lack of proper guidance from the director, leading to multiple retakes and scoldings.

In her statement, Baiju highlighted Bala’s harsh behavior and the warning given to her about his temperament on set. She also mentioned that Suriya was aware of Bala’s ways due to their prior work experience, implying a challenging environment for newcomers like herself. Suriya eventually exited the film, followed by Baiju.

Director Bala has a history of unprofessional conduct on film sets and has garnered a reputation for his demanding and sometimes abrasive working style. Following Suriya’s departure, actor Arun Vijay stepped in to fill the lead role in the film, slated for a March release. The allegations against Bala raise concerns about the treatment of actors in the industry.
