Director Senthil Vinu of ‘The Silent Prayer’ reflects on his unsettling memories of the 1984 riots in Coimbatore

Mumbai, April 1 (IANS) The upcoming film ‘The Silent Prayer’ directed by Senthil Vinu sheds light on the 1984 riots in Coimbatore, featuring Sikh siblings amidst chaos. The film, to be showcased at the Red Lorry Film Festival on April 5, aims to honor the unwavering spirit of the Sikh community.

Director Senthil Vinu revealed, “I have some very disturbing memories from the riots of 1984 in Coimbatore. Despite the devastation, the Sikh community displayed remarkable resilience, choosing to rebuild their lives without harboring any bitterness towards the city or its inhabitants.”

The music for ‘The Silent Prayer’ has been composed by veteran music composer Ilaiyaraaja. Producer Nisha Patial shared that Ilaiyaraaja was deeply moved by the film’s narrative and believed in its global appeal, thus deciding to create music that resonates with a worldwide audience.

Reflecting on their encounter with Ilaiyaraaja, Patial stated, “The maestro’s instantaneous decision to begin composing for the film was a testament to his dedication and passion for music. His ability to evoke deep emotions through melodies is truly remarkable.”
