New Delhi, March 10 (IANS) India head coach Rahul Dravid emphasized the importance of listening to players regarding the shortcomings in the domestic cricket season. He acknowledged the concerns raised by players like Shardul Thakur, highlighting the rigorous nature of the cricket schedule in India.

Dravid expressed the need to consider the feedback of players who endure the challenges of playing various competitions. With the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, Dravid recognized the strains faced by players and stressed the importance of managing schedules to ensure player well-being and recovery.

The domestic cricket season in India began in June 2023 with competitions like the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. Players have been on the road consistently since October, participating in tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Dravid highlighted the toll it takes on players, particularly those vying for national selection.

Dravid called for a comprehensive review of the domestic cricket structure, suggesting a reevaluation of the necessity of certain tournaments.
