Durga Navami 2021 Date and Time

The Ashtami Tithi will last at 08:07 PM, 13 October, and from 08:07 PM the Navami Tithi will start and last at 06:52 PM, 14 October. The Durga Navami will be celebrated on 14 October.

Significance

As per Hindu Scriptures, Maha Navami or Durga Navami is the day of victory of good over evil. On the same day, Maa Kaali, an angry form of Goddess Durga killed Mahisasura and his 3 fellows, Chanda, Munda and Raktabija. As Goddess Durga killed Mahisasura, that’s why she is also known as “Mahisasuramardini”.

On the 9th day of Navratri, Goddess Siddhidatri is also worshipped.

There is also the ritual of feeding 9 girls as the 9 forms of Durga on the Ashtami or Navami of Navratri.

Durga Navami Puja Vidhi

  • On the day of Durga Navami, wear clean clothes after taking bath etc. in the morning to worship Goddess Siddhidatri.
  • After that, at the place of Kalash Sthapan, install the idol of Mother Siddhidatri and offer pink flowers to her.
  • After that worship them by lighting incense, lamps, incense sticks.
  • Now chant the Beej Mantras of Maa Siddhidatri.
  • After that finish the worship by doing aarti.
