Easter or Transgender Day? Huge outcry erupts over Joe Biden’s decision, Trump Demands apology

This year Easter has come with more trouble for Joe Biden and he is facing increasing criticism for declaring Easter Sunday as the “Transgender Day”.

He may not be faulted because the two days happened to be on the same date but his proclamation has led to a huge outcry with former President Donald Trump accusing Biden of insulting the sentiments of millions of Christians and Catholics across the nation.

However this is not the only action which sparked an outrage.

The Joe Biden-led administration’s decision to ban the children of the National Guard from submitting Easter Egg designs for the 2024 “Celebrating National Guard Families” art event at the White House further added fuel to the controversy.

It is rare for the Transgender Day of Visibility and Easter to fall on the same day.

While Transgender Day of Visibility falls on March 31, Easter usually falls between March 22 and April 25 depending on the position of Earth and the Moon. It is observed on the first Sunday after the Spring Equinox or the full Moon.

The last time Easter and Transgender Day of Visibility fell on the same day was in 2013 under Barack Obama administration.

Transgender Day of Visibility was started in 2009 to honor the lives of transgender and to raise awareness about transgender people. The day was celebrated during the tenure of President Donald Trump also for four years.

Easter is not an official holiday in the U.S., many stores remain closed as a celebration of Resurrection of Jesus who as prophesied rose from death three days after crucifixion. Christians all over the world observe the Lenten season of fasting and penitence which culminates with Easter festival.

Biden has in his 2024 presidential proclamation which came out on Friday proclaimed that Transgender Day honors the “extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans. As Americans they deserve, and are entitled to, the same rights and freedoms as every other American, including the most fundamental freedom to be their true selves. Transgender Americans are part of the fabric of our Nation.”

Biden also appealed to all Americans to help the transgender community throughout the country and work to remove the cult of violence discrimination based on gender identity. He also reminded how his administration has worked to grant equal rights to the transgender community and also open the doors for their entry into the U.S. Armed forces.

However, Biden’s action did not go well with the Presidential opposition candidate Donald Trump. In a statement Trump’s campaign said it’s “appalling and insulting” that Biden formally declared Easter Sunday as Transgender Day of Visibility.
