The Election Commission (EC) has deployed 190 companies of paramilitary forces in Tamil Nadu for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 19. This includes deployment of companies in various cities and districts for maintaining security during the election process.

In Chennai, seven companies of paramilitary personnel have been deployed, while neighbouring areas such as Avadi and Tambaram have been given three companies each. Other cities like Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Tiruchi, Salem, and Tirunelveli also have received deployments of paramilitary forces.

Apart from these cities, various districts across Tamil Nadu have also been allocated companies of paramilitary personnel to ensure security during the elections. These forces will be working in coordination with the local police to maintain law and order during the election process.

The deployment of paramilitary forces is a crucial step taken by the Election Commission to ensure a safe and secure environment for voters and smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu on April 19.
