ED raids premises linked to ex-health minister in TN

Chennai, March 21 (IANS) The Enforcement Directorate officials conducted raids at the residence of AIADMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Health Minister, C. Vijayabaskar. Vijayabaskar, who is also the MLA from Viralimalai Assembly seat, had the raids carried out at his residence in Illuppur, Pudukottai district.

The officials arrived in three vehicles and barred anyone from leaving the residence during the search. Vijayabaskar held the position of Health Minister from 2011 to 2021, serving in consecutive terms of the AIADMK government in 2011 and 2016. Sources within the AIADMK in Pudukottai confirmed that Vijayabaskar was not present at the residence during the ED action.

The Income Tax department had previously conducted raids at Vijayabaskar’s properties in Chennai, stone crushers, and quarries in Pudukottai district, as well as other properties belonging to him and his relatives in the State a few months ago. More details about the ongoing raids were awaited as the investigation unfolds.
