Eid-ul-Azha 2020: Jammu And Kashmir Admin Postpones Bakrid Holiday for Govt Employees to August 1 and 2

Srinagar, July 31: With the Muslims in India celebrating ‘Eid-ul-Azha’ this weekend amid COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday issued an order stating that the vacation on account of ‘Eid-ul-Azha’ shall be noticed on August 1 and 2, as a substitute of July 31 and August 1. The brand new order applies for all the federal government staff within the authorities places of work and academic establishments of the Union territory.

Making the announcement, the Union territory authorities stated, “The vacation on account of `Eid-ul-Azha’ shall be noticed on 1 & 2 August (Saturday & Sunday) as a substitute of 31 July & 1 August (Friday & Saturday), within the authorities places of work and academic establishments of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.” Bakrid 2021: Assam’s Kamrup Metropolitan District to Permit Solely 5-Member Gathering at Mosques or Eidgahs for Namaz.

Earlier on Thursday, Kamrup Metropolitan district in Assam acknowledged that solely five-member gatherings at mosques or Eidgahs will likely be permitted for providing namaz on the event of Bakrid 2021. The restrictions had been imposed in view of the COVID-19 outbreak. Mass congregational prayer is disallowed as it could lead to transmission of the virus, stated officers.
