Eight illegal colonies demolished in Gurugram's Sohna

The District Town and Country Planning department conducted a demolition drive in Gurugram’s Sohna block, where eight illegal colonies were being developed in an area of around 19 acres. The colonies were being developed illegally in Ghamroj, Bhondsi, and Mahendrawada villages without prior permission from the concerned department.

During the drive, four illegal colonies were demolished in Bhondsi village, along with plinths, road networks, boundary walls, and one upcoming structure in Ghamroj, and two colonies in Mahendrawada collage. The enforcement team carried out the demolition drive, with the district town planner (enforcement) leading the operation.

The operation took place under the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, where it is mandatory to take NOC from the Town and Country Planning Department before any activity. DTCP (enforcement) Manish Yadav also warned against investing in illegal colonies, stating that registries should not be done in these colonies, and action will be taken against the concerned Tehsildar if this is done.

The demolition drive was a part of the department’s efforts to crack down on illegal construction and land development in the area, with the aim of maintaining proper regulations and control over urban development in Gurugram. The significant presence of police at the spot underlines the seriousness of the operation and clarifies the government’s determination to curb illegal construction activities.
