Election for MP’s Betul LS seat cancelled due to candidate’s death

The election to the Betul Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh has been cancelled after the BSP candidate, Ashok Bhalavi, died of cardiac arrest. The election was scheduled to take place in the second phase on April 26, along with five other seats in the state. The BJP has held the Betul Lok Sabha seat since 1996.

Family members of the late BSP candidate stated that he complained of pain the night before and was taken to a hospital in Betul, where he passed away on Tuesday. Madhya Pradesh Electoral Officer, Anupam Rajan, confirmed the cancellation of the election in the constituency due to the candidate’s sudden demise.

This unexpected turn of events has left the Betul Lok Sabha seat without a candidate from the BSP. The cancellation of the election has brought attention to the impact of such unforeseen circumstances on the electoral process. The political dynamics in the constituency are likely to shift as a result of this development.
