Election officials confiscate diamond, gold, and silver articles valued at Rs 4 crore in Karnataka

Authorities in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru district seized undocumented diamond, gold, and silver articles worth Rs 4 crore at the M.C. Halli checkpost near Tarikere town on Tuesday. The valuables included over 1.7 kg of diamonds, 6.5 kg of gold, and 1 kg of silver articles.

The seizure took place during a routine inspection of vehicles at the checkpost from a truck. The individuals transporting the valuables failed to produce relevant documents, prompting the police to seize the items and launch an investigation. The articles were reportedly en route from Bengaluru to Shivamogga.

In a separate incident, officers on election duty at the Pillekerenahalli checkpost in Chitradurga discovered Rs 20.35 lakh in cash on Tuesday. A case has been registered at the Chitradurga Rural police station in connection with this incident. The authorities are actively investigating both cases to determine the origins and intended destination of the seized items and cash.
