Empowering 5 Million Women and Girls Worldwide in Tech by 2030

New Delhi, March 11 (IANS) Paris-based ‘Women in Tech’ has set the goal to empower five million women and girls in STEAM fields by 2030 worldwide, with a focus on India. The organization plans to achieve this through mentorship programs and skill-building initiatives.

Radhika Iyengar, Country Head of Women in Tech India, stated, “The formal launch of the India Chapter marks a pivotal moment in Women in Tech Global’s collective effort of empowering 5 million women and girls in STEAM by 2030 while also tailoring our local activation outreach and programs to address India’s pertinent issues.”

The new Women In Tech India has partnered with Girls4Girls (G4G), a global project from Harvard University, to introduce a mentoring initiative in India. This collaboration aims to help young women and girls in India achieve their leadership potential.

Additionally, Women In Tech India will focus on supporting women from the northeast region by providing access to digital resources beneficial for their daily lives and small businesses. The organization plans to address the high dropout rate of girls in STEAM careers and work towards retaining more women in these fields.

Women In Tech Global, with a membership of over 200,000 individuals, operates chapters in nearly 50 countries across six continents. The organization’s goal is to create more opportunities for women in technology and encourage their growth in academia, careers, and decision-making roles.

Overall, Women in Tech’s mission to empower women and girls in STEAM fields by 2030 showcases a global effort to address gender disparities in the tech industry and provide support and resources for women to thrive in these fields.
