Entry of BJP leader Rajendra Rathore's son sparks political tussle in RCA

Rajasthan Cricket Association in Political Tussle Over CDCA Elections

The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) is facing another political conflict after the election of Rajendra Rathore’s son as the Churu District Cricket Association (CDCA) chief. RCA Secretary Bhawani Samota called the elections unconstitutional, while the newly-elected President defended the process.

Parakram Singh, son of veteran BJP leader Rajendra Rathore, became the CDCA President after winning the polls. However, the RCA rejected the election, calling it unconstitutional just 24 hours later.

Samota stated, “The elections were held in Churu on February 20 without sharing any information with the RCA, which is contrary to the rules. Also, no authorized RCA observer was present during the elections, making the process completely unconstitutional.”

RCA Vice President Shakti Singh Rathore countered, claiming the elections were constitutional. “I went for the district cricket association elections as an observer as the RCA Secretary did not respond to calls. The elections were held as per the rules, and information was sent to the RCA,” he said.

Parakram Singh defended the process, saying, “The elections were held as per the rules, and an RCA observer was also present. Now a controversy is being created unnecessarily on this entire issue.”

In the CDCA elections, Parakram Singh Rathore was elected as President, Sushil Sharma as Secretary, and Deendayal Saraswat as Treasurer. The entry of yet another politician’s son in the RCA has raised eyebrows in the state cricket circles, especially with the current President being the son of ex-Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

The RCA’s history includes being suspended by the BCCI in 2014 and having the ban revoked in 2019 with specific conditions. The latest controversy adds to the ongoing political entanglements in the state cricket association.
