New York City Mayor Eric Adams is facing very damaging sexual assault allegations from a former police colleague and the revelation is very graphic.
The policewoman has alleged that Adams had demanded her to perform oral sex on him in return for favors.
Sexual Assault Case Against Mayor Eric Adams Filed by Former NYPD Colleague
The Policewoman has slapped a lawsuit and Eric Adams who was elected as the New York City Mayor in 2021 and is standing for re-election in 2025 has denied the allegation and called it a lie and outrageous.
The lawsuit which was filed in the New York County Supreme Court charged that New York Mayor Eric Adams had sexually assaulted her in 1993 when both were working in the New York Police Department’s Transit Bureau. Adams was at that time the head of the NYPD Guardians Association, an organization that advocates for Black NYPD employees. The plaintiff had approached Adams in regard with a promotion.
The lawsuit alleged that Adams had asked for a meeting and instead of talking on the matter had driven to a secluded spot and demanded her to perform oral sex on him. When she refused, Adams pulled out his phallus and started masturbating and ejaculated on her.
The lawsuit indicted the mayor of sexual assault, touching inappropriately and causing grave mental trauma. The suit also alleged of gender discrimination retaliation and sexual harassment.
Adams reacted to the notice when it was initiated in November 2023 and said that he did not even recall meeting any such person. The notice was first filed under the special New York Survivors Act signed by the governor in 2022. The act gave the survivors of sexual assault one year to file the civil suit which otherwise could not be initiated due to statutory limitations. The notice was initiated before the one year window but the detailed charges were filed only on Monday.
A statement by City Corporation Counsel Sylvia Hinds-Radix said that they are seriously looking at the complaint even though the defendant has completely rejected the allegations. However the case can drag on for years because of lengthy depositions, hearings and scrutiny of documents before the case comes up before a court of trial.
Megan Goddard, the lawyer for the plaintiff said that she is aware that the plaintiff will have to undergo a lot of mental stress after the filing of the lawsuit but what is more important is her fearlessness and the pursuit for justice which is really inspiring.
