Eurosport renews MotoGP broadcast rights in India for two years starting in 2024
With the 2024 MotoGP season set to begin next month, Eurosport India has reacquired the broadcasting rights to the world championship until 2026. The channel will broadcast MotoGP races in India, along with Moto2 and Moto3, on both the Eurosport channel and the Discovery+ app.
Eurosport India has a strong coverage in motorsports globally, adding MotoGP to its portfolio of events like Formula 2, WorldSBK, FIM-EWC, FIA-WEC, DTM, and SpeedwayGP. This move aims to provide MotoGP enthusiasts in India with a comprehensive viewing experience across various racing categories.
Daniel Rossomondo, Chief Commercial Officer at Dorna Sports, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “Eurosport is a hub of motorsport in India and the perfect platform to showcase this exhilarating sport to all our fans. I’m excited to see 2024 get in gear and our riders deliver outstanding performances for everyone to enjoy.”
MotoGP fans can look forward to the India round of the championship scheduled between September 20-22, 2024, at the Buddh International Circuit. This event follows the success of the inaugural Grand Prix of Bharat, which contributed to the sport’s growing popularity in the country.
Arjun Nowhar, General Manager at Warner Bros. Discovery, emphasized the return of MotoGP to Indian fans, highlighting the brand’s commitment to providing seamless viewing experiences for sports enthusiasts. The partnership with Eurosport aims to enhance the sports broadcasting infrastructure and culture in India to inspire young athletes and motorsport enthusiasts.
The 2024 MotoGP season consists of 21 races and will commence with the Qatar Grand Prix on March 8. The collaboration between Eurosport and MotoGP signifies the growing appetite for international sports in India, with the aim of elevating the nation’s sporting legacy and encouraging more participation in motorsports.
