Ex-India cricketer Lalchand Rajput appointed UAE head coach

Former Indian cricketer Lalchand Rajput has been appointed as the new head coach of the UAE men’s team for a three-year period, taking over from interim head coach Mudassar Nazar. The 62-year-old has a proven track record, having managed the Indian team that won the inaugural men’s T20 World Cup in 2007 and coached Afghanistan and Zimbabwe men’s teams.

Rajput, who served as the head coach of Mumbai Indians in the IPL’s inaugural edition in 2008, expressed his gratitude towards the Emirates Cricket Board for appointing him and is confident in the team’s potential. His first assignment as head coach will be the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 ODI tri-series, followed by a series of T20Is against Scotland.

Emirates Cricket Board’s General Secretary, Mubashshir Usmani, expressed delight in Rajput’s appointment, acknowledging his exceptional coaching abilities. Usmani also thanked Mudassar Nazar for his stellar work as the interim head coach, recognizing his role in identifying and grooming future cricket stars.

Rajput’s experience and success in the world of cricket, paired with his vision for the UAE men’s team, has raised expectations for the team’s future performances. The UAE cricket team aims to excel under the leadership of their new head coach, as they gear up for upcoming tournaments and fixtures.
