Explosives Recovered From A Car Near Donald Trump’s Rally Site At Long Island? Know More About The Security Scare

There have been two assassination attempts on Republican Presidential nominee, Donald Trump. The security around the former US President is being revamped.

There were reports that explosives were discovered in a car near the venue where Donald Trump is scheduled to address a rally at Long Island, Nassau County.

Police have confirmed that there was a suspicious incident on Wednesday ahead of Trump’s address but there is no threat to the former US President.

The Nassau County Commissioner of Police Patrick Ryde has however denied the reports that explosives have been found at the site and described it as false and unfounded.

Patrick Ryde said,

“There is a person who is being questioned who may have been training a bomb detection dog near the site. The individual with the bomb dog falsely reported explosives being found and that individual is currently being detained by police.”

Donald Trump has however used the two assassination attempts as a PR exercise and said that only consequential presidents get shot at.

However, the Secret Service is under fire for the two attempts which they failed to prevent.

Lt. Scott Skrynecki, a spokesperson for the county police, also stated that the detained person was a civilian and not a member of the law enforcement agency.

Skrynecki and other county officials quickly squashed news about the discovery of the explosives on the internet.

The rumours were traced to a post from a reporter citing unnamed sources in the local police department.

Trump’s rally at Long Island, a suburban area just east of New York City, will be the first since 2017 and thousands of supporters are expected to land at the venue of the rally which was formerly the home of the NHL’s New York Islanders.

The rally is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

President Joe Biden had defeated Trump by a roughly 4 per cent margin on Long Island in 2020 and had gotten 60,000 votes more. However, Trump had won neighbouring Suffolk County by more than 200 votes.
