Fatal accident in Bangladesh: One dead as four vehicles catch fire following oil tanker overturn

In Savar, Bangladesh, a tragic accident occurred on the Dhaka-Aricha highway, resulting in one fatality and eight injuries. An oil tanker overturning led to a massive fire that engulfed four vehicles, including a private car, a cement-laden truck, a watermelon-carrying truck, and a lorry. The deceased victim was identified as Nazrul Islam, 45.

According to Dhaka district’s Traffic Inspector (Admin) Shahidul Islam, vehicular movement resumed at 9 a.m., three hours after the damaged vehicles were cleared from the scene. The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Tragically, Nazrul succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the institute.

In a separate incident on Monday, a fire broke out at a bus depot in Dharmikpara of Konapara area in the capital city of Demra. The fire, which started at 8:50 p.m., resulted in the destruction of 14 Volvo buses owned by London Express. Fire Service Control Room Duty Officer Rashid Bin Khalid confirmed the extent of the damage caused by the fire.

The authorities are investigating the causes of both incidents as the community mourns the loss of lives and the destruction of property. The safety measures for handling such emergencies and preventing future accidents are being evaluated to ensure the well-being of all individuals on the roads and in public spaces.
